“We began shooting Holographic at an abandoned castle and a crumbling resort where Sinatra had once spent his summer holidays: spaces of former glory now slowly decomposing. A cyclical pattern. The skeletal buildings had been stripped and tagged, leaving only the shape-shifting ghosts of stories these walls once housed. The past and present lived together at once. We shot in Manhattan, a locale destined for a similar fate - consistent only in its eccentric beauty and impermanence. The Portuguese have a word for this feeling that isn’t translatable in English: a combining of happy and sad, a type of longing toward something once loved. They call it saudade. ” - YM
